Grace's | Our Story

A love letter to grandmother's table

Grace’s on Kirby is Johnny Carrabba’s tribute to his grandmother and the memorable meals she shared with those she loved.

Grace Mandola

Johnny Carrabba has always said his grandmother Grace was the best cook he ever knew. Saturdays were for baking bread, and on Sunday mornings, she was up before dawn making her tomato sauce and slowly braising meats. Her table was always full, with dishes like stuffed artichokes, fried chicken, and pork roast. More than anything, Grace loved bringing family together around a good meal.
The women behind every dish

The women behind every dish

Johnny created Grace’s to honor the women who had the greatest influence on his life: his grandmother Grace Mandola, Maw Maw Carrabba, his mother Rose, and his daughter Mia. Their influence can still be found on the menu today, with dishes like Maw Maw’s Pork Pot Roast, Rosie’s Fried Chicken, and Mia’s Gumbo.

Our menu brings together Southern comfort food and Italian-American favorites, with influences from Cajun, Tex-Mex, and Gulf Coast cooking. From tender pot roast to BBQ shrimp, it’s the kind of spread Grace would have served at her own table.
